I
Welcome to Sherman's World!
What was your favorite book as a child?
Hello! Are you looking for a gift for a young reader?
Something to celebrate moving up to a new grade?
I am a mom and a new grandmom, and these are my favorite paths in life. I am also a volunteer firefighter, and that experience led me to write my first book, "Sherman's World - Finding Courage." This story is about two unlikely friends (Sherman a mouse and Gus a grasshopper) who meet while they over-winter in a fire house. The story follows Sherman in his quest to be a firefighter. When unexpectedly called into action, Sherman saves a cat in a tree and a firefighter who needs help. In my newest book, "Sherman's World - Finding Ghosts," Sherman and Gus forge a closer friendship and take turns defending each other against bullies (Rufus a mouse bully and Capitaine DuBois a ghost bully). Mimi is a new character and is a descendant of mice who came from France during the American Revolution. The three friends work together to find solutions to their ghostly problems. Tres bien!
I want my books to appeal to even the reluctant readers, so I wrote them with humor and action to keep them turning the pages until the end.
Thank you for visiting my site.

"Sherman’s World - Finding Courage"
This story follows Sherman, a young, field mouse, as he makes a winter home in a firehouse. There, he meets Gus, a meadow grasshopper, and starts a training program to become a real firefighter. When spring arrives, Sherman's firefighting skills are tested not once but twice!
First, Sherman rides with firefighters to rescue a smelly, wet cat stranded in a tree. When the people can't reach her, it's up to Sherman to come up with a plan. But his plan is dangerous and Sherman must risk his own life to save the cat. Will he do it? Will he succeed and live to tell the story?
Later, Sherman is in the wrong place at the right time when an injured firefighter needs help and other firefighters cannot find him. Will Sherman stay with the firefighter and devise a rescue plan? What will he do? Will it work?
Humor, action and friendship move this story along in short chapters. Readers 8-10 (120 pages).
"Sherman's World - Finding Ghosts"
Sherman and Gus are on a new adventure when they leave the firehouse and return to Sherman's pine woods in the spring.. After dealing with a bully named Rufus, the mouse and grasshopper travel to a meadow and find an old, abandoned house. Inside the house, they find descendants of mice that came over from France at the time of our Revolution. They also find a ghost who is a bigger and scarier bully than Rufus.
The ghost is a French soldier who fell into his well and died. Now, all he wants to do is go back to France to find his family. Until that happens, he has placed his house under a spell to keep the French mice from leaving him alone. The problem for Sherman and Gus is that the ghost hates visitors and throws fireballs at them to keep them away.
Sherman and Gus want to help the ghost get home so the mice tribe will be freed, but when the ghost hurts Gus with one of his fireballs, this could all change. Will Gus recover? Will the two friends sort it out and help the ghost get home to France? Will the mice ever be free to go outside?
Humor, historical references, and action in short chapters. Readers 8-10 (140 pages)
